Vintage 1970s Royal Doulton Basque Stoneware Jug
A beautiful Royal Doulton Lambeth Stoneware milk jug in the sought-after Basque pattern (LS1008), dating to the 1970s. Finished in a rich chocolate brown glaze and decorated with a basket of cream flowers and soft green foliage, this piece perfectly captures the earthy warmth of the decade.
With its sturdy stoneware construction, rounded shape and gently curved pouring spout, it’s ideal for serving milk or cream, or equally lovely styled as a small vase for garden flowers.
Made in England by Royal Doulton and designed to be dishwasher, freezer and oven proof, these pieces were made to be both practical and beautiful.
Condition
Very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks noted. Light age-related wear to the base consistent with use.
Why We Love It
These darker 1970s stoneware pieces have such a cosy, lived-in feel. The basket of flowers motif softens the rich brown glaze beautifully, and we love it displayed with wildflowers or mixed with Denby and Scandinavian ceramics for that effortless vintage kitchen look.
