The sweetest little vintage ceramic piggy bank, with a wonderfully naive, hand-painted floral design. The chunky white ceramic pig has pink and green flowers across its back, warm orange-brown detailing to the hooves and snout, and a lovely handmade feel.

The combination of the hand-painted decoration, slightly wonky characterful features and glazed ceramic gives this a fantastic mid-century retro feel. We’d date it approximately to the 1960s–1970s, although there is no visible maker’s mark to confirm an exact date.

Complete with a coin slot and removable base stopper, so it can still be used as a money box, or simply enjoyed as a vintage ceramic animal ornament and kitsch homeware piece.

Condition

Good vintage condition with expected signs of age and previous use. There is some surface wear and discolouration to the underside, particularly around the feet, and the hand-painted decoration has some minor age-related wear. The stopper is present.

Why We Love It

A really lovely example of the slightly odd, wonderfully charming ceramic homewares we love. The hand-painted flowers make it feel much more special than a modern reproduction, and it would look so cute styled on a bookshelf, bedside table or kitchen shelf.
